Fall Classic Game 7 Captures 51 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canada and Japan Regions.

The exciting extra-inning clash where the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a combined 51 million viewers in the United States, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB stated this is the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game drew 27.33 million viewers on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It additionally stands as the top-rated World Series game after the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent improvement compared to the previous finale between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed fourth, Game 4 ranked seventh, Game 5 was eighth, and the third game landed in 13th place.

Global Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English program in Canada after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game began at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million. This came after the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – drew over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in Japan.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The full seven-game series averaged 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen viewership growth for two straight years.

Counting the opening game telecast on Univision, the total US average was 16.1M. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09 million watchers, an eight percent rise over the previous year and Fox’s best postseason performance after 2017.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by 44 media partners in 16 various languages.
