A deadly train derailment in the southern state of Oaxaca has resulted in the deaths of at least 13 people, an incident likely to revive critical opposition regarding the rapidity and execution of the country's key government projects.
The accident occurred on the trans-isthmus railway, a route constructed to link the Atlantic Ocean and Pacific across the narrowest part of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. “We shall thoroughly investigate the reasons behind this accident,” stated the national leader.
The leader reported that, of the around 250 people on board, another 98 were wounded, with five of those in critical condition. The leader added plans to go to Oaxaca to confer with those affected.
