The second-hand marketplace Users Share Displeasure Over Sizing Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Changes
Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Accounts
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20β22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
